My Father Over the Tree (Abi Foq Al-Shagara) explores parental authority and societal influence through the lens of mid-20th-century Arab cinema. The posters in this series have been deliberately manipulated—cut and smeared to reflect society’s evolving perception of the “ideal” as shaped by collective norms and expectations. This work brings to light the tensions between authority and tradition, inviting viewers to reflect on how censorship contributes to the formation of cultural narratives and shared collective identities.
