اللا/مرئي: أجسام في المرآة: معرض جماعي

27 September - 27 December 2023

This group exhibition invites contemporary arts enthusiasts to a deeper understanding of materiality and object significance. At the core of this exhibition are artists who have taken unique approaches in exploring the significance of objects—both commonplace and abstract—in our lives.

Sultan Bin Fahad's Beaded Series creatively interrogates cultural exchange through metal boxes often used in Saudi weddings, transformed by beadwork artisans in Nigeria. Ayman Yossri’s Black Eye, developed during a residency in Morocco, reflects on borders through the medium of soil, giving viewers a nuanced understanding of what 'home' means in a politically charged world. Dana Awartani’s Platonic Solids Duals reimagines traditional Islamic geometry through materials like wood, brass, and glass, offering a modern take on ancient models of universal harmony. Zahrah AlGhamdi’s Untitled series reveals the microcosm of biodiversity in soil, highlighting its essential, yet often ignored, role in our ecosystem.

This carefully curated exhibition also includes two intriguing pieces by the collaborative studio Random International, adding a dynamic layer to the collection. Fragments and A Study for Gradients both toy with perception, challenging the way we understand form and shape.

"In/visible: Objects in the Mirror" serves as a call to reimagine the world around us, invoking unexpected and stimulating discussions about what is often unseen or unconsidered. It is an invitation to redefine the boundaries of what we find aesthetically significant, beckoning us to find beauty and meaning in the most surprising of places.
