ATHR PARTICIPATES IN ART BASEL 2026
ATHR Gallery is proud to announce its participation in Art Basel 2026, presenting three major works by leading Saudi artists across the Unlimited and Premiere sectors.
Marking a significant milestone for the gallery, ATHR will debut in Basel Unlimited with monumental installations by Muhannad Shono and Zahrah Alghamdi, alongside its Basel Premiere with a focused presentation by Ayman Yossri Daydban.
Together, these presentations reflect the depth and diversity of contemporary artistic practices emerging from Saudi Arabia today - exploring questions of belonging, memory, identity, materiality and the structures that shape human experience.
Muhannad Shono presents a seventeen-meter installation that continues his investigation into systems of thought, authority and the narratives that define collective perception. Having represented Saudi Arabia at the 59th Venice Biennale, Shono has developed a significant international presence through major commissions and exhibitions including Art Basel Parcours, Lyon Biennale, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Desert X Coachella and the British Museum. His works are held in prominent collections including the Centre Pompidou, British Museum, Art Jameel Foundation and leading Saudi collections.
Zahrah Alghamdi’s immersive installation transforms material, architecture and memory into a sensory landscape. Through labor-intensive processes rooted in traditional materials and methods, Alghamdi explores the relationship between place, cultural identity and embodied memory. Her internationally recognized practice includes major presentations at Desert X AlUla, the Venice Biennale and the British Museum. Her works are held in collections including the Centre Pompidou, British Museum and Art Jameel Foundation.
Ayman Yossri Daydban’s Premiere presentation examines the complexities of home, identity and belonging through his distinctive visual language. A Palestinian-Saudi artist, Daydban’s multidisciplinary practice reflects on migration, cultural exchange, and the construction of national narratives. His work has been presented regionally and internationally including the Islamic Arts Biennale, Noor Riyadh, Diriyah Biennale, Cairo Biennale and the British Museum’s exhibition “Hajj: Journey to the Heart of Islam.” His works are held in major collections including Centre Pompidou, British Museum, Art Jameel Foundation and other leading institutional and private collections.
As Saudi Arabia’s contemporary art landscape continues to gain international recognition, ATHR remains committed to bringing forward ambitious practices that reflect the region’s evolving artistic narratives and global relevance.
