Abdullah Al Othman, a key voice in Saudi Arabia’s contemporary art scene.
Working across installation, light and text, as well as interventions in public space, Al Othman has developed a multidisciplinary practice that reflects on the shifting realities of contemporary Saudi life. Drawing from desert mythologies, urban environments and the visual language of the city, his work moves between memory and material, language and place-often transforming fragments of signage, architecture and light into subtle, layered reflections on the rapid changes shaping the Kingdom today.
His practice is grounded in an ongoing exploration of how we experience and understand our surroundings. Moving between documentation, sociology and architecture, Al Othman invites viewers to look more closely at the spaces they inhabit, uncovering meaning in details that might otherwise go unnoticed. His works often take the form of quiet interventions, where text and light operate both as medium and message.
Al Othman has exhibited widely in Saudi Arabia and internationally, including the Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale, Desert X AlUla and the Lyon Biennale, as well as projects and exhibitions in Riyadh, Jeddah, Berlin, Vienna, Basel, Venice, New Delhi and New York City.
With this representation, ATHR continues its commitment to supporting artists whose practices engage thoughtfully with the cultural and social dynamics of the region, while contributing to wider international conversations.
