ATHR is pleased to announce the representation of artist Mounirah Mosly’s Estate.
A pioneering figure in Saudi Arabian modern art, Mounirah Mosly (1943–2019) developed a deeply personal artistic practice spanning painting, printmaking and experimental media. Throughout a career that stretched over five decades, her work explored themes of memory, identity, cultural heritage and the human condition, drawing from the landscapes, traditions and collective histories of the Arabian Peninsula while embracing an enduring spirit of experimentation.
Working between abstraction and symbolism, Mosly brought together contemporary artistic languages with poetry, philosophy and folklore, creating works that invite reflection on both the visible and the unseen. Through an intuitive visual language rooted in curiosity and imagination, she expanded the possibilities of modern Saudi art while inspiring generations of artists to follow.
Among the first women to exhibit publicly in Saudi Arabia, Mosly presented her work extensively across the Kingdom and internationally, including Art Dubai Modern, the Cairo Biennale, the Sharjah Biennale, and exhibitions throughout Europe, the United States and the Arab world. Her works are held in major public and private collections, including Ithra, the Barjeel Art Foundation, the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Madrid, and others.
